Emmerdale’s Dale Meeks’ final post before death leaves fans tearful

Dale’s heartbroken brother Philip Meeks revealed his sibling was “profoundly unwell” while struggling with mental health issues before his untimely death.

The actor shared an update with fans about his latest project, The Hunt For Raoul Moat, just days before his death.

As the first episode of the ITV drama aired, Dale shared a post about his “dark role”.

Dale played the killer’s friend Rory Sutcliffe in the three-part series and posted a picture of a door telling his followers where he’d been watching the show.

Commenting on an article about the show, he shared: “Superb article. Sadly watching tonight’s episode from this equally mysterious and sinister location. It’s fantastic to feel the love. Thanks gang. Keep it coming xxx.” (sic)

His fans commented on the final post, with Lauren Jackson writing: “Sleep easy, Dale pet. You were and always will be, one of the rare diamonds of the North East. Heartbreaking.”

Lynn Mackenzie added: “RIP Dale, great actor in television and theatre.”

Sam Venn shared: “Goodbye my friend. I’m heartbroken by your loss but so f*****g proud to have known you.” (sic)

Sevan Stephan added: “So very sad. Our two Christmases in Birmingham and Leeds as a double act in A Christmas Carol were such fun. You will be terribly missed by so many.”

Dale played Simon Meredith on Emmerdale between 2003 and 2006. He also starred in the BBC series Byker Grove which launched the careers of Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Dale’s brother Philip announced the cause of the actor’s death on social media in an emotional statement.

He penned: “The little boy I grew up with has left me. I cared for him so deeply.
