Corrie star Sam Aston's wife Briony does yoga with two-week-old son in sweet video after giving birth six weeks early
CORONATION Street star Sam Aston's wife Briony filmed herself doing yoga with their two-week-old son for a sweet social media post.
The new parents proudly announced that little Sonny had arrived six weeks early with an adorable family snap on Instagram yesterday.
And yoga instructor Briony wasted no time in getting back to her passion – returning to the mat just a fortnight after giving birth.
In the video, the 25-year-old blonde is dressed in burgundy leggings and a black top, having maintained her trim figure during pregnancy.
The clip starts with Briony walking into shot cradling her newborn, who is wrapped in a blanket.
She rocks Sonny as she gently places him on the waiting mat and gives him a tender kiss on the head before getting to work with a variety of yoga poses.
The video ends with Briony kissing Sonny some more before gazing adoringly at her son.
She captioned the post: "2 weeks postpartum and it’s someone’s first time on the mat ever✨ Yogi baby pending?"
Sam, 27, shared a photo of himself kissing Sonny on the head to Instagram yesterday evening.
Announcing his son's arrival, the actor wrote: "Welcome to the world little man. Our little ray of sunshine.
"Sonny James Aston ?"
Briony shared the same snap to her own account, adding extra details in her caption, which read: "Sonny Aston✨
"He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lbs 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love?✨"
Sam confirmed that he and Briony were expecting their first child back in May, before revealing they are having a baby boy.
They previously shared that they had only been trying for a baby for four or five weeks before falling pregnant.
Speaking to OK! Sam – who plays Chesney in the ITV soap – said: "We’re having a boy! It was a massive surprise when we found out, as there are loads of girls in our families, so we were adamant we were having a girl."
Briony added: "We found out the day before lockdown. Sam couldn’t come with me because of the current rules, so I got the consultant to write the sex on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope and we both then sat in the car and opened it together. We were over the moon."
Sam, who has eight siblings, said one child is "perfect for now" and, referencing his Corrie alter-ego, joked: "I’m glad it’s not quads."
Sam and Briony, got married last year, two years after announcing their engagement.
They exchanged their vows – and did a yoga-themed first dance – in front of friends, family members and his soap co-stars at Stock Farm in Cheshire.
He and on-screen partner Gemma Winter have their hands full with baby quadruplets, and Sam admitted handling babies on set has given him more confidence for when his own child is born.
Sam was just 10 years old when he joined the ITV soap, and has grown up on screen.
