Corrie spoiler clip sees Evelyn have stern words with estranged daughter Cassie

Coronation Street is set for dramatic scenes next week as Claire Sweeney makes her first appearance as Tyrone Dobbs' long-lost mum and Evelyn Plummer's estranged daughter Cassandra.

In upcoming scenes, as Evelyn grumbles to Tyrone about Roy Cropper spending time with Yasmeen Metcalfe, Cassie watches unbeknown to them.

Following Tyrone’s advice, Evelyn invites Yasmeen and Roy to join her later at the bistro.

As Evelyn heads home, she spots Cassie across the street but chooses to ignore her and later she receives a call which stops her in her tracks.

As Roy and Yasmeen wait for Evelyn at the bistro, she hurries into a hospital A&E reception and explains that her daughter, Cassandra Plummer, has been admitted as an emergency.

And in a spoiler video of Wednesday's episode, Evelyn visits Cassie in hospital who has tragically overdosed.

Evelyn wants to know how Cassie found her, to which Cassie admits she came to Evelyn looking for money.

In the clip, Evelyn says: "By all accounts, you're lucky to be alive!"

She adds: "I'm only here to find out how you know where I live… where did you find my address and when? It must have been recently because when I last saw you, you had no idea or you would have said.

"Oh, you found it in my bag, didn't you… eh? When you were nicking my money, not that there was much, I try not to have cash when you're around. You have been my greatest teacher."

To which Cassie fires back with: "And you, mine!"

A disgusted Evelyn continues: "So, you came looking for me… or rather, looking for money for your drugs…"

With Cassie replying: "No, yes, I needed money but it wasn't for pills. I scored because you wouldn't help me… you walked away!"

Evelyn is left furious as she fires back with: "Oh your logic is beyond me… I'm not going to stand here and listen to you blame me for everything. All the problems in your life, no thanks!"

As Evelyn walks out, Cassie declares: "Yeah, go on, walk away like you always do!"

During a recent Coronation Street press conference, Claire said that she wanted to be unrecognisable as her character Cassie.

"I'm not vain," she said. "I'm an actress, the first day filming on the cobbles, one of the extras like you said to me 'Oh, we didn't we didn't recognise you' and a full 'brilliant!'. That's how I wanted to be, I want her to be so far removed from me."

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV.
