Corrie actress Sally Ann Matthews SLAMS vile Twitter troll who brands her a 'ginger ****'

CORRIE actress Sally Ann Matthews describes herself as "the girl with ginger hair" on her Twitter page and was quick to stick up for her hair colour after she was slated by a cruel online troll.

The soap star, who plays Jenny Bradley in the ITV show, had a busy night on-screen as her character was proposed to by ex boyfriend and boss Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley).

Yet a snide Twitter user made sure she was kept occupied in real life too, watching the action-packed show before taking to their account to write: "Even your name is awful.

"Sally sounds like a dog lmao you ginger ****."

In a move praised by her followers, Sally swiftly re-Tweeted the message for all to see.

It seems she may well have recognised the user, who went under the now-deleted profile name @LauraGrunner, as she replied: "Have we met?

"Indeed. Collars and cuffs."

Sally's fans were quick to leap to her defence.

One wrote: "That's shocking … Nothing wrong with you or your name," while another raged: "Whoa what a sad life this Laura must lead to pick on someone as lovely as you Sally."

They then added: "Ignore her darlin' because she's nowhere near as good as you."

Another posted: "You're a class act unlike the potty mouth business management student," while one simply praised: "Excellent handling."

On-screen Sally faced a shock proposal last night

During last night's episode, fans were left gobsmacked after witnessing Sally's character Jenny at the centre of a surprise wedding proposal.

Johnny, who had previously dumped and sacked her, popped the question after he realised his girlfriend wasn't responsible for a nasty prank phone call.

He tried to apologise but Jenny was still upset and grabbing her stuff and he had to think about how he could show he was committed to her.

It was ironically when he spotted a pair of fluffy pink handcuffs that had fallen down that he decided to get down on one knee.

The factory boss' son Aidan (Shane Ward) also walked in at the perfect time to see his dad propose to his nemesis Jenny.

Johnny then popped the question to his ex-girlfriend in front of all the bemused factory workers – and she said yes.

It appears fans were just as shocked as they were.

One tweeted in shock: "Holy s***. What just happened there? #Corrie."

Another questioned: "Has he lost his marbles? #Corrie."

A viewer literally rolled their eyed: "Johnny you bloody fool 🙄#Corrie."
