Coronation Street spoilers: Yasmeen Nazir forced to leave cobbles – can Alya save her?
Yasmeen (played by Shelley King) is currently taking centre stage in a harrowing coercive control storyline on Coronation Street, with her abusive husband Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) isolating her from her loved ones. One person he can’t seem to draw away from his wife is her granddaughter Alya (Sair Khan) as she has become suspicious about what’s really going on behind closed doors. Upcoming scenes on the ITV soap will see the businesswoman start digging into her step-grandfather’s past and is left shaken by what she finds. However, noting the urgency of getting her grandmother away from the sinister character, can she convince the pensioner to leave Weatherfield and seek help?
Alya is pertinent to the storyline, with the cobbles resident the only character persistent in forcing her grandmother out of isolation, despite many of the pensioner’s friends picking up on red flags.
Geoff is well aware of this and has made moves to ensure his wife is cut off from her granddaughter, with scenes airing this week telling her they should move to Cyprus.
Although Yasmeen has become unsettled by her husband’s behaviour towards her, she has followed his orders to maintain the peace and defended him every time he’s been questioned.
However, will she be able to come to his protection when the businesswoman airs his dirty laundry, making her realise just how dangerous her other half is?

- Coronation Street spoilers: Yasmeen Nazir’s ending ‘confirmed’
Becoming greatly concerned about her grandmother’s well-being, Alya asks her friend Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) to accompany her to the police station to report her suspicions.
Believing he has a history of abuse and after her consultation with the authorities, the businesswoman starts her own investigation into Geoff’s.
Her worst fears are confirmed when it’s discovered her step-grandfather was abusive to one of his former partners and it’s not long before she confronts Yasmeen with the news.
Before she can, the pensioner tells her granddaughter she is planning on moving abroad with her husband after he has successfully convinced her life in Cyprus would be better for them.
Picking up on the signs of coercive control and armed with her evidence against Geoff, the businesswoman tells her grandmother she is being abused.
Claiming the pensioner is being isolated from all her family and neighbours, Alya tells Yasmeen she can’t stay with her husband.
Packing some clothes into a bag, the youngster is determined to save her loved one from the villain.
As the truth begins to spiral out, Geoff’s wife has already been brainwashed to follow his every word and will likely jump to his defence again.
