Coronation Street favourite leaves Weatherfield after finding ‘new job’

Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) is leaving Coronation Street for a while after being offered a new job in Norwich.

Fiz, who finally wed Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in December, is offered a huge career change in scenes that are set to air next week.

The seamstress has been a long-term employee off Underworld, with Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) hailing her as one of his most trusted employees.

As a result of this, secret serial killer Stephen offers a Norwich-based promotion to Fiz, telling the Corrie veteran that she’d be earning twice as much as she doing as her current role as a machinist.

Beth Tinker (Lisa George) had initially expressed interest in applying for the role following her dramatic break up from Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

She’d been caught snogging her ex boyfriend Marco, sparking Kirk to end things. But Beth reconsiders leaving the cobbles after Fiz told her that Kirk had been missing her.

Doting husband Tyrone urges Fiz to take the promotion – but he may regret it.

She goes on to accept Stephen’s offer and packs her case ready for her Weatherfield departure.

But, as fans fear that Fiz is leaving for good, they’ll be pleased to know her exit is only temporary as the actress is set to welcome her third child very soon.

Jennie shocked soap viewers to reveal in an exclusive interview with OK! back in December that she was six months pregnant.

Speaking to us at the time, Jennie said she and her husband Chris Farr had decided not to find out the gender of their baby.

“Girl, boy – it’s not relevant! I’ve got two little humans who are very different from each other but I’m not sure they’re different because they’re a girl and a boy,” she told us.

Discussing her birth plan, Jennie appeared to have a chilled outlook on it all.

“It’s fine and it will all work out,” the actress said.

“People do it every day and have been doing it for a long time. I’ve had two different but similar births. It’s the practicality that is a bit more stressful. I’m hoping it goes smoothly and not when I’m in the middle of the supermarket!”

It’s thought Jennie's due date was in April, but there’s been no news of the birth of her bundle of joy just yet.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
