CELEBRITY MasterChef fans were left seriously distracted by Michael Praed's 'unrecognisable' appearance.

The former Emmerdale actor, 63, was branded a "silver fox" and was compared to stars such as James May, Billy Connolly and Si King.



Fans took to social media to share their disbelief when they eventually realised he Celebrity MasterChef contestant was Michael Praed.

One said: "Michael Praed doesn't look like Michael Praed. Unrecognisable. So he gets points off for that."

Another wrote: "Didn't recognise silver fox Michael Pread! #CelebrityMasterChef."

A third penned: "Love how Michael Praed has stayed true to his 80s hair #CelebrityMasterchef."

The actor played Amy Walsh's character Tracy Metcalfe's dad for three years on the ITV soap.

And Amy also appears on this series of MasterChef.

Gregg Wallace asked: "You seem to know Amy?"

Michael explained: "I spent three genuinely cherished years on Emmerdale and I had the great distinction to be Amy's dad."

Gregg continued: "Is that right? So is there a healthy competitiveness between you and Amy?"

Michael teased: "Hell yeah, I want to beat her bad" to which John added: "Right, that's a nice thing to say to your daughter."

Michael managed to impress John and Gregg with his dishes and went through to the next round.

He said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be in the next round, it is good to have this one under the belt."

Meanwhile, it was home time for Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell.

Dianne said: "I feel gutted to be the first one to go home, I think eliminations get to me.

"I am used to them though, but they never get easier."

Celebrity MasterChef airs Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9pm on BBC One.
