Caitlyn Jenner Still Watches 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', Gives Update on Relationship with Kids

Caitlyn weighs in on whether “KUWTK” is scripted and offers an update on her relationship with Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall, Brody and Brandon.

Yes, Caitlyn Jenner still watches "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

The reality star had lots to say about the show she used to star on and her relationship with her children on Tuesday night at WEtv’s "Real Love: Relationship Reality TV’s Past, Present & Future" panel discussion.

Moderated by Sherri Shepherd, Cait was joined by other big-name stars — including Tori Spelling, Brandi Glanville and Bachelor Nation’s Rachel Lindsay and Nick Viall — to discuss the reality of reality television and how it affects romantic relationships, familial relationships and everything in between.

In chatting about "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" — a show Caitlyn once starred in and still watches "once in a while" — she said she was "amazed" at the production value of the series and how far it’s come since their single-camera days.

"I was watching ‘Keeping Up’ this last week — I watch it once in a while, not very often, but I do watch it once in a while — and I was just watching the way they were editing everything, how they can take one sentence here and the shot’s over there," she explained. "We started off with one camera. You know how difficult that is? To shoot like five people with one camera? And then we started getting better and we got two cameras."

"But then to be able to edit that process — for your production crew, your producers, to be able to find that storyline in all of this and be able to seamlessly put it together," she added. "A lot of shows don’t make it because they’re not produced well."

Even though the idea to shoot a reality show "wasn’t quite" hers, she was happy to be a part of it because reality television — according to Caitlyn — "is an art form."

"I always felt like what you needed was a group of people that people like," she explained. "There could be controversy, but you have to invite these people into your home on a weekly basis. And yes there’s drama and there’s things happening, but the bottom line is they gotta like these people, and you have to have a lot of storylines. We had so many storylines. So many storylines."

Sherri asked Caitlyn point-blank if any of the often-dramatic storylines on "KUWTK" had ever been scripted — a question many of the show’s fans have had for years.

"It’s not scripted at all," Cait replied. "They have an idea of what’s going on, but we certainly don’t have any writers or this or that. We do get together at the beginning of the year and sit down and say, ‘Okay, what’re you doing, what’re you doing, what do you have coming up, what should we shoot, where do we think a storyline should be?’ These girls have had plenty of dating going on and babies and this and that, so we know that these things are coming up."

"We’ve done almost 500 episodes, and I’m thinking every year, ‘What else is there to tell?’ And they always find something," she said, adding, "Some of the best conversations I’ve ever had with my kids happened on camera."

Sherri then asked Caitlyn about her relationships with Khloe, Kim and the rest of her 10 children — relationships that were heavily strained following her divorce from Kris Jenner in March 2015 and were further damaged by her 2017 book "The Secrets of My Life."

"My relationship is good with them," Cait replied. "I mean, everybody’s so busy. Of course, you wanna be with everyone every day because that’s what you did your entire life, but Kylie’s busy, Kendall’s running all over the world, this and that. But my relationship is still good with all of them."

"Same with the Jenner side," she added. "Actually, lately, I’ve probably been a lot closer to the Jenner side — my son, Brandon. Brody, somewhat. Burt, all those kids. My daughter, Casey, we’ve actually been really very good over the last year. We happened to get a lot closer. She’s got three kids and doing just great."
