BBC Strictly fans blast Tess Daly over huge show change as they brand it ‘pointless’
Strictly Come Dancing fans tuned into the latest live results show on Sunday night, 3 December, despite there being no elimination.
Fans of the BBC’s celebrity dance show were devastated for former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman, after he quit due to injury, but took to social media platform X to question the show’s decision to put presenter Tess Daly on the sofa with Claudia Winkleman.
One viewer wrote: "Not liking Tess up in Claudia’s bit, she can’t do small talk. Get back downstairs Tess."
After the show screened video messages from the likes of Billie Piper, another viewer added: "Hilarious that they've scoured every contacts list in the studio to find people who were in, and prepared to make a shite video, to pretend they give a shit about Strictly."
A third said: "This is the most pointless Results Show ever, pure filler… now if it was 40 minutes of Vito Coppola THAT could be heaven."
The usual results announcement was altered to instead reveal which two dances the remaining couples will perform next week in the semi-final, after Nigel was forced to pull out of Saturday night’s Musicals Week show – and as a result has finished the competition in fifth place.
Nigel still appeared in Saturday night’s show and stood with his dance partner Katya Jones – who got a little emotional. They explained to Claudia and viewers what happened: "I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men.
“As I flew, I was Peter Pan and as I landed I was in A&E. I've done something to my ribs and it's a little bit painful."
After a dance number inspired by the 1964 movie My Fair Lady followed by a beautiful performance from Joss Stone who sang her song from the new musical The Time Traveller’s Wife – the contestant two dances for the semi-final were announced.
Bad Education star Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin who earned a whopping 40 points in musicals week with their Moulin Rouge Pasodoble will be dancing the Rumba and the Charleston.
Fan-favourite and ex-Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach who transformed into Belle reveal one of their two dances is a Cha-Cha and with her partner Vito Coppola.
Next week, EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier and his professional partner Dianne Buswell hope to impress the judges with the Quickstep, and the Pasodoble after their Dirty Dancing performance failed to earn them top scores.
Ex-tennis pro Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe who fell to last place in the leader board despite an impressive score of 33 will take on the Salsa and a Viennese Waltz.
The remaining couples have ahead of them another gruelling week of training to try and guarantee a place in the final on December 16.
