BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty in career dig at Hugh Ferries after awkward joke
BBC reporter jokes “I’ve done journalism”
BBC Breakfast turned a bit frosty after a joke from Hugh Ferries left host Naga Munchetty telling her co-star: “I’m not even going there.”
During Saturday’s (September 2) installment of the BBC show, Charlie Stayt and Naga were on the red sofa bringing viewers the latest news and discussing the biggest current affairs live from the studio.
The duo presented today’s headlines, including the death of former Harrods owner Mohammed Al-Fayed, the rise in botched cosmetic procedures, and school closures as the summer holidays come to an end.
However, the show became a bit awkward when Hugh Ferries gave the latest news from the sporting world, including football updates.
The sports presenter explained how Belgian football team Union Saint-Gilloise will be taking on Liverpool in an upcoming match, where brothers Kevin and Alexis Mac Allister will clash on the pitch.

Hugh said: “Kevin Mac Allister – who plays for a Belgian side – found out his team would be facing Liverpool, which is where his brother Alexis plays after signing for them this summer.”
He then jokingly reassured viewers that he was talking about the footballer Kevin Mac Allister and not Macaulay Culkin’s fictional character from the legendary 1990s Christmas film Home Alone.
The presenter added: “And if you’ve heard Kevin Mac Allister before and you’re wondering where and why – it might not be the Union Saint-Gilloise player, no it’s not Macaulay Culking’s character from Home Alone. They’re two different people, just in case you were wondering.”

Naga then jumped in and cheekily asked her co-star: “Are you sure?”, as he replied “I’m absolutely sure” before she added: “Really?”
Hugh then snapped back: “I’ve done journalism, I’ve made sure”, following her questioning as Charlie started laughing.
But this prompted Naga to respond with “I’m not even going there, I’m not even going there”, before Charlie stepped in and moved the show on by introducing the weather report.
