A list of what the highest-earning BBC employees are paid per year has shown BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty earns significantly more than her co-stars.

Naga, 48, earns almost double what her co-stars earn at £335,000-£339,999, however, she also presents Radio 5 Live.

In second place is Charlie Stayt who earns between £190,000-£194,999 for presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Naga.

Meanwhile, Jon Kay earns about £10,000 less than Charlie, with his salary declared as £185,000-£189,999.

While Naga has been revealed to have earned much more than her colleagues, she has actually taken a pay cut from last year.

In 2021/2022 Naga was being paid £365,000-£369,999, meaning she had taken a £30,000 pay cut.

The wage list for the BBC’s highest earners was released on Tuesday, with Match of the Day star Gary Lineker topping the list yet again.

The former footballer earned £1.35million in the last financial year, it has been revealed.

BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball was the second-highest earner, with £980,000, while Alan Shearer came in at third place on £445,000.

The findings were released as part of the BBC’s annual report as required by the Government.

The highest ranking newsreader was Huw Edwards, whose salary is £435,000-£439,999. This was up by £25,000 from the previous year.

The absence of commercial earnings means names such as Michael McIntyre, Tess Daly, Paddy McGuinness, Alex Jones and the Strictly Come Dancing judges are not on the list.

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman and talk show host Graham Norton have featured high up the list in previous years, but they are both absent from the line because of the way they are paid.

The BBC’s income from the licence fee was down from £3.8billion to £3.74billion, which the corporation claimed was due to a decline in paid-for TV licences.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One between 6am and 9.15am.
