Angela Bassett Jokes Black Panther Castmates Are 'Consummate' Pros — and Don't Need Her Advice!

Angela Bassett has so much love to give towards her Black Panther castmates.

The actress, 60, walked the Academy Awards red carpet on Sunday with her husband Courtney B. Vance, where she spoke to PeopleTV on the Red Carpet Live special about how the younger members of the Black Panther cast don’t need any Hollywood advice.

“They’re consummate. All those guys. I saw Danai [Gurira] last night — she’s amazing in so many ways, so is Lupita [Nyong’o] and Chadwick [Boseman] and Michael B. [Jordan], Forest [Whitaker]… I couldn’t give advice to any of them! It’s just, ‘Let’s do it again!’ That would be my only advice.”

“Any advice that I may have given was only by example,” Bassett continued. “Just come to work, be on time, be professional, have the proper attitude and love what it is that you do.”

“I hope that everyone can see that that’s the way I rise and step in the world, but I can also see in them that they feel the same about themselves, about their life,” the actress added.

Though speculation has begun about what could happen in the Black Panther sequel, Bassett was keeping her lips tightly sealed.

“I can’t tell you anything, sister,” she joked to PEOPLE, “but you know if I had something to tell I would share it!”

Black Panther is nominated for Best Picture at Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony.

The 91st Academy Awards are broadcasting live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.
