Alison Hammond left ‘gooey’ following touching Dermot O’Leary comment

Alison Hammond says that Dermot had just told her ‘I love you’

Presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are regulars on This Morning, typically hosting the ITV magazine show on Fridays. The pair have fronted the programme every day this week as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy an Easter break. On Good Friday’s instalment, an off-air moment left Alison swooning for her co-host as she admitted a comment from him had left her feeling “gooey”.

Dermot and Alison presented a lively show during the Easter Bank Holiday, but it was an off-air moment that had Alsion distracted.

Following a quick ad break, the cameras cut back to a visibly touched Alison.

“Aw, that was such a lovely thing that you just said there,” the 48-year-old told her colleague.

“Shut up,” Dermot, 49, quickly ordered Alison, who simply repeated: “Aww.”

“Don’t tell people what I just said, I was just being nice,” Dermot pleaded to his co-star.

Turning to the cameras with a cheeky look, Alison asked: “Want to know what he said?”

“Oh shut up, everyone!” an embarrassed Dermot snapped

Ignoring him, Alsion went on: “He said, ‘I love you.’ Thanks! It’s like, made me all funny.

“I’ve gone all gooey inside, thank you.” Dermot looked mortified as he dismissed the compliment.

“Stop grassing me up about being nice to you,” he replied as Alison gushed.

“I love you too, babes, I love you too,” she commented as Dermot rolled his eyes.

The pair often stand in for usual presenters Holly and Phillip whenever they have time off.

While they always host the show on Fridays, both have been making more regular appearances in recent weeks.

Phillip took last week off as pre-planned leave, and Alison was among the guest hosts presenting with Holly in his place.

From this week, Holly and Phillip are off the show for their two-week Easter break, so Alision and Dermot will be making daily appearances.

ITV co-star Lorraine Kelly has also stepped away from her hosting duties for Easter as Good Morning Britains Ranvir Singh stepped in this week in place of the Scottish host on her self-titled chatshow.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
