Reigns lost the match – but it was Strowman who almost went home in the back on an ambulance

Fair play to Braun Strowman. He lived up to his “Monster Amongst Men” nickname as he tossed Reigns around and barely flinched at Reigns’ chair shots.

But it was brains not brawn that won the match.

Roman tried to spear Strowman into the ambulance, but Strowman moved – sending Reigns flying into the back of the vehicle to end the match.

Braun didn’t celebrate for long though. Reigns emerged and chucked Strowman into ambulance – before driving it to the car park and reversing into a truck at full speed.

In more ridiculous scenes, a fire crew arrived to cut Braun out of the ambulance while Raw GM Kurt Angle watched on, all sweaty and confused as usual.

The bloodied Braun clambered out, still up for a fight – it was sensationally daft.

We still have no idea why Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins are fighting

Michael Cole offered a few weak explanations during the Bray v Rollins match – something to do with Rollins' “lack of faith” or being “blasphemous” against Bray.

This is the problem with Bray’s mysterious (AKA gibberish) promos. No one has a clue what’s going on.

It was a dull opener, with both men going through their usual repertoire. As predicted, Bray got a screwy victory – thumbing Rollins’ eye before hitting Sister Abigail’s Kiss for the win.

Enzo is as out of date as WWE is

WWE named this PPV after a song released 60 years ago – and Enzo began his pre-match promo by comparing his career to the lyrics of Sinatra’s “That’s Life”, released in 1963.

Talk about being out of touch with modern fans. Fifty per cent of the audience probably didn’t have a clue what poor Enzo was talking about.

His nostalgia was short lived though, as former tag partner Big Cass utterly trounced Enzo in their grudge match.

Looks like Cass is going to the top, while Enzo is doomed for mid-card hell. That’s life indeed.

Sheamus & Ceasro can’t help breaking the Hardys for real

At Payback Sheamus and Cesaro knocked out Jeff Hardy’s tooth – and last night they gave Matt a nasty hard-way cut, leaving his face covered in blood at the end of their 30-minute Iron Man match.

The Raw tag champs’ heel tactics were a joy to watch too, using underhanded tricks to score early falls.

The last five minutes were killer, as the Hardys regained control and equalized.

But Jeff hit what would have been a winning Twist of Fate too late – and the buzzer sounded on the count of one. It was an inconclusive finish, so this feud is set to continue.

Alexa Bliss knows all the tricks

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss put her title on the line against Sasha Banks – but had to resort to devious tricks.

First, she used her double-jointed elbows to make it look like she was legitimately injured – then sucker-punched Banks.

And after decent back-and-forth action – including a dramatic spot moment when Sasha locked in the Bank Statement – Bliss got herself counted out, therefore retaining the belt.

Sasha got revenge by hitting her patented double knees off the announce desk post-match.

It was bad news for The Boss last night, but good news for everyone else – Sasha should get a rematch at SummerSlam, hopefully nixing the rumoured Nia Jax v Alexa match.

The Miztourage are useless

It took about 10 seconds into the weak Dean Amrbose v Miz match for Ambrose to lay out Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, the new entourage of Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

Ambrose continued to nail the supposed bodyguards – but at least they’re got a spot on TV, right?

Maryse proved more help than Axel and Dallas combined when she put Miz’s foot on the rope to break up a pinfall.

Bo Dallas sort of redeemed himself by jumping on the apron and gingerly slapping Dean around the back of the head – allowing Miz to hit his Skull-Crushing Finale for the win.
