WWE announce huge six-man tag match for SuperBowl Halftime show

Wrestling legend Shawn Michaels announced the news during the Royal Rumble pre-show that WWE Halftime Heat is back!

For the first time in 20 years — since Mankind took on The Rock – a WWE match will take place place during halftime of next Sunday’s big game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.

As revealed on the Rumble kick-off, the unprecedented event will feature a Six-Man Tag Team Match pitting NXT superstars Aleister Black, Ricochet and Velveteen Dream against NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, newly crowned North American title holder Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole.

The event coincides with the 20-year anniversary of WWE’s inaugural Halftime Heat, which aired on January 31, 1999.

That night saw Mankind famously defeat “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson to win his second WWE Championship in an Empty Arena Match.

The showdown was aired during halftime of that year’s SuperBowl game between the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons.

The bumper clash will be available to watch on the WWE Network.
