What celebs like Iggy Azalea, Leo DiCaprio and Celeste Barber are saying about Australia’s fires

As  Australia’s wildfires are expected to worsen this weekend and as thousands of tourists and residents have evacuated, celebrities are taking notice.

The fires, which have left 19 dead, dozens missing and more than 1,400 homes destroyed, have been burning since October.

Authorities have said this season’s fires are the worst in Australia’s history and that the crisis is likely to last for months. Hundreds of fires are active across the nation with more than 12 million acres of land scorched.

Here’s how celebrities have taken to social media to raise awareness about the bushfires that are ravaging the nation.

Iggy Azalea

Artist Iggy Azalea posted a photo cuddling a koala to her Instagram with a call to action for her followers: Donate.

Saying that koalas in Australia are losing their habitat due to the fires, she prompted viewers to “swipe up” to help save a koala.

“Got to visit this cutie yesterday, as well as so many animals injured & rehabilitated at @currumbinwildlifehospital,” she wrote in her post’s caption. “Thankyou guys for letting me hangout!!! did you know over 30% of the Koalas natural habitat in NSW has been destroyed by the bushfires Australia is currently battling? The saddest part is, that’s not even the biggest threat to their survival. Please donate if you can guys, anything helps. Link in my stories. ?”

Big gratitude to the brave firemen who literally haven’t stopped during the holidays!! ? Heartbroken for all the animals, plants and land… ? for rain ? #tbt ❤️??”
