UFC fans beg Conor McGregor to accept Khamzat Chimaev's training offer after he releases clip of himself boxing

CONOR MCGREGOR is back to work in the gym as he gears up for his return to the UFC – but MMA fans have called for him to train with undefeated phenom Khamzat Chimaev.

The Notorious recently returned to his childhood boxing gym in Crumlin, Dublin to get a pads session in with one of his coaches.

McGregor, 33, was impressively light on his feet for someone who broke their leg less than a year ago.

The Irishman released a clip of himself going through various drills and cracking the heavy power pad to his Instagram on Tuesday morning.

And he was bombarded with pleas for him to train with surging welterweight prospect Khamzat Chimaev.

One fan commented: "Please train with Khamzat and Darren."

Another said: "Train with Khamazat."

And another said: All I’m saying is Conor should accept Khamzat’s call and join him in camp for a few weeks/months.

"It will really sharpen up his skills to another level we could see Conor actually compete at the top once again."

A large portion of McGregor's followers, however, were quick to praise how he looked on the pads.

Former two-division champion McGregor is gearing up to make his return to the octagon following the horrific broken leg he suffered last July.

And Chimaev has offered to train with the Dubliner ahead of the bout, tweeting along with a picture of himself and Darren Till: “If you want to come back we will help you, we are waiting for you in our camp @NotoriousMMA."

McGregor, 22-6, had hoped to make his blockbuster return to the cage in the summer, but UFC president Dana White expects him to be back in action in the 'fall'.

He told SunSport: " We're looking at early fall, if everything goes right."

The fall timeline is contingent on McGregor's doctor clearing him to resume full training in the coming months.

White added: "If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall."
