UFC chief Dana White offers Summer Tapasa-Sataraka a job after being sacked by Best Buy following viral thief takedown – The Sun

UFC president Dana White offered viral internet star Summer Tapasa-Sataraka a job after she was sacked by Best Buy following a thief takedown.

Summer's heroics were seen online after she successfully halted a thief trying to steal from Best Buy in Hawaii.

But the brave store worker was sacked following the incident.

UFC president White not only flew Summer over to watch Conor McGregor’s comeback fight against Donald Cerrone in Las Vegas, the promoter also offered her a job.

ESPN confirmed: "On Friday, [UFC President Dana White] officially offered Tapasa a job with the UFC.

"UFC vice president of communications Lenee Breckenridge said White initially thought Tapasa could work in a security capacity, but after being moved by talking with her, he felt that she could be valuable in an even greater role.

“No details on a potential position have been hammered out, Breckenridge said, but White plans to discuss it more with Summer on Saturday at UFC 246 at T-Mobile Arena."

After being invited to Vegas for the return of McGregor, and having faced the Irishman off with Cerrone at the weigh in, Summer said: “It has been insane to see the support that I’ve gotten from all over the world.

“Right after it happened, I never would have guessed that people would care so much about stopping a shoplifter.

“There has been so much love and I’m just seeing and hearing what everyone is saying and I’m just so appreciative.

“I know how big of a moment this is.I mean I was just on the stage with Conor McGregor and ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

“While this is all so cool, I also know that it is an opportunity to set myself up for the future, whether that is here in Las Vegas or back in Hawaii.”

White said: “First of all, the video was awesome, yet it p****d me off. This woman goes out and does her job by stopping a scumbag from stealing and she loses her job over it.

“You celebrate somebody like that you don’t punish them.

“We’re very involved in the community and not just here [Las Vegas] but all around and try to do the right thing in lots of different situations.

“It’s about being in a position where you can help people and doing it. When you can, you should, and we do.”
