Tweet by Oklahoma City’s mayor about Russell Westbrook and Paul George didn’t age well

It's been an absolutely wild six days for the Oklahoma City Thunder and their fans.

First, they shockingly traded Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers last Friday night.

Then Thursday night they shipped Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul and some first-round picks.

Yup, that really did happen. Life comes at you fast, right?

It sure did for Oklahoma City's mayor, David Holt, who tweeted on June 30 about how great it was to have Westbrook and George on the Thunder for what he thought would be a quiet free agency period for the team:

Check this out:

If you ask me, a quiet free agency is a blessing when you’ve still got an MVP & an MVP finalist on your roster. Presuming better health, a second full year to hone this dynamic, the return of Roberson, plus renewed league parity, I like our squad just fine. #GoodToBeAThunderpic.twitter.com/zDiVf1j5YF

Holt had some fun with it after the Westbrook news hit Thursday night:

Like I said, the return of Roberson https://t.co/i9kJxbXiTA

That was pretty good.

Holt then went on to sing the praises of Westbrook, who spent 11 years with the Thunder:

In the days ahead, there will be much, much, much, much more to say about what Russell Westbrook has meant to OKC. I can’t even begin to process it all now. ???
But for tonight… Holy cow, you can’t make this stuff up. We traded our greatest love for our first love. https://t.co/I1gE9DHFBT

Westbrook will definitely be missed in OKC.
