Silva makes history by becoming first boss to concede six at home at three clubs

The Everton boss saw his side thumped by Tottenham at Goodison Park this afternoon – but he should be getting used to it by now.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both bagged two while Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli got themselves on the score sheet as Spurs' front four served up a festive feast for their travelling fans.

The 6-2 drubbing was unsurprisingly the biggest defeat as Everton manager since replacing Sam Allardyce in the summer.

But it was an improvement on some of his previous results since joining the Premier League in January 2017.

He was brought in by Hull to try and save them from relegation but was unable to do so.

The Tigers were officially gone after a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on May 14 with one game of the season remaining.

That was at home to – you guessed it – Tottenham and the visitors ran riot.

Kane grabbed a hat-trick with Dele, Victor Wanyama, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld all finding the net in a 7-1 hammering which confirmed the Golden Boot for the England striker.

Fast forward four months and with Hull in the Championship, Silva is adjusting to life at Watford and making another impressive start.

But then Manchester City arrived at Vicarage Road and again, the goals were freely shipped.

Sergio Aguero helped himself to three while Gabriel Jesus, Nicolas Otamendi and a Raheem Sterling penalty completed the annihilation.

Silva was axed in January after a downturn in form as Everton looked to poach him.

The Toffees had to wait until the summer though but history repeated itself once again as Jordan Pickford picked the ball out of his net six times this afternoon.

So that's six goals conceded at home for three different clubs in just 581 days – not very impressive at all from Mr Silva.
