Rafeal dos Anjos accepts McGregor's call for a fight in Brazil citing their 'unfinished business'

McGregor, who is currently serving a six month suspension for his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, tweeted that he wishes to one day fight in Brazil.

The Irishman reacted to former rival Jose Aldo defeating Renato Moicano, which prompted McGregor to express his interest in fighting in Brazil after suggesting he almost fought there last year.

McGregor said: “What an amazing atmosphere at UFC Brazil tonight.

“I would LOVE to compete there for all the passionate Brazilian fans at some stage of my career.

“I was so close to securing a bout in Rio last year. It was essentially a done deal.

“Maybe next time.”

McGregor is referring to a UFC interim welterweight title fight he was offered against Dos Anjos in May of last year.

However, in the April The Notorious was involved in an attack on a bus with UFC fighters inside, which saw him stripped of the potential title fight against Dos Anjos.

It is not the first time the pair have seen a potential UFC title fight fall through – as McGregor was set to challenge for Dos Anjos’ lightweight belt in March 2016.

However, after Dos Anjos suffered a broken foot, the fight was scrapped with Nate Diaz instead stepping in and handing McGregor his first UFC loss.

McGregor would however, go onto claim the lightweight strap at UFC 205 – after defeating Dos Anjos' conquer Eddie Alvarez.

After McGregor’s latest call for a fight in Brazil –  keen to finally settle the score with the UFC star, Dos Anjos called out the former two-weight champion.

Dos Anjos said: “We have unfinished business, we got close to get it done twice. You pick the weightclass.”

The Brazilian has had five fights since moving from lightweight to welterweight, while McGregor has had just two bouts at 170lb – both against Diaz.

McGregor has already been called out by Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and ex-opponents Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier upon his octagon return.

However, UFC president Dana White, alongside McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy, suggested Cerrone is the favourite to meet The Notorious once his ban is run up.
