Mo Salah signed for Chelsea five years ago today and so much has changed since

The Egyptian star joined the Blues from Basel in a deal reportedly worth £11million but struggled to make an impression at Stamford Bridge.

Salah made just 13 Premier League appearances during his time in West London and scored twice.

After failing to make an impact at Chelsea Salah was first loaned to Fiorentina before he was eventually sold to Roma for around £12million in June 2016.

Having found his form in Italy, Salah was snapped up by Liverpool in July 2017 and has not looked back since.

The 26-year-old was signed in a £36million deal and in his debut season scored a record-breaking 32 goals in just 36 Premier League games.

Salah was awarded Premier League Player of the Season, PFA Players' Player of the Year as well as FWA Footballer of the Year after his outstanding maiden campaign on Merseyside.

Questions were raised over his ability to maintain that imperious form but he has proved doubters wrong again with 16 goals and eight assists from 23 appearances this season.

Liverpool are currently four points clear of second place Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Whilst Salah is already a club legend at Anfield, if he could lead Liverpool to their first league title win in 28 years he would be revered forevermore.
