MMA star 'Mad Max' accidentally slashes training partner with an AXE during work out

RUSSIAN MMA star "Mad Max" slashed his training partner with an axe in a dramatic training accident.

Maxim Novoselov, 46, was in the gym with Andrey Kynyazev when he swung an axe at his training partner and saw it pierce through the shield he was holding and embed itself into Kynyazev's forearm.

After the blow, grim footage from the incident shows Kynyazev drop his shield and stagger away from his opponent with blood gushing from the wound.

Kynyazev was taking part in a weight loss session involving weapons when 6ft 2in Max struck the accidental blow.

AXE-ING LYRICAL

Novoselov weighs 17st 4lb and despite his opponent wielding a large thick shield to protect himself, the weapon – which Max had received as a gift earlier that day – pierced through the armour and into Kynyazev's flesh.

The weight loss regime sees Max use weapons in a bid to speed up his movements but obviously never to harm his partner.

Kynyazev was armed with a hammer, which he swung at Max before the shaven headed giant retaliated with the gruesome blow.

But despite the injury – which required hospital treatment – Kynyazev does not blame his heavyweight partner.

Speaking after he was seen to by doctors he said: "That day Me and Maxim wanted to shoot something special, but it went wrong.

"It took four weeks to recover.

"Of course, I got to hospital where I had two stitches.

"It still hasn't recovered perfectly and I have a scar now."

Novoselov – from Chelyabinsk, Russia – has eight wins, two defeats and a draw from his professional career but has not fought since September 2018.
