Meet the Mainz wonderkid so good David Beckham demanded information on him after competing against Romeo | The Sun

NELSON WEIPER has caught the attention of David Beckham and he looks like he could be a star of the future.
The 18-year-old striker is already starring in Germany with his impressive goalscoring exploits.
He already has an eye-watering record at youth level, regularly scoring more goals than games played.
During his time with the Mainz U17’s he bagged 20 times in 19 appearances before bettering that with the U19’s, hitting the net 21 times in just 17 games.
But his talent has even been obvious to those who have watched him from a much younger age.
According to German outlet BILD when Weiper was just seven years old, Beckham was taken aback by his ability.

The England legend attended a youth tournament with his son Romeo and after watching the young German play he immediately enquired about him to those in charge at Mainz.
Weiper has now made the step up to professional level making six Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
Impressively he has managed two goals during this time despite only having 34 minutes on the pitch.
He has also yet to miss the target with any shot he has had during his time on the pitch for the Mainz first team.

The youngster signed his first professional contract with the carnival club back in 2022 and is understood to be tied down until 2025.
He has also been impressing on an international stage, representing Germany at both U17 and U18 level scoring 14 goals in 20 appearances.
Weiper is a towering figure standing at 6ft 3ins tall and he has the physical attributes to succeed at the top level according to Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel.
He said: “Nelli (Nelson) is a snapper, he has the special nose for goals, the centre-forward gene.
“In addition, his physique, he is big and fast. The boy can go a long way.”
Weiper has come in for big praise and has been compared to german youngsters Youssoufa Moukoko and Jamal Musiala as well as national legend Gerd Muller.
