Marvelous Nakamba vows to live up to his name as he becomes Aston Villa’s 12th transfer signing this summer – The Sun
MARVELOUS NAKAMBA has completed his move to Aston Villa and promised fans: I'm marvellous!
Nakamba has become Villa's 12th signing of the summer as boss Dean Smith splashed out £12million to capture him from Belgian side Club Brugge.
And the 24-year-old gave an immediate hint about his confidence to succeed in an interview with the club's in-house TV channel.
Asked what kind of player he is, Nakamba said: “I am a marvellous player!
“I am a midfielder giving everything for the team every time, one who gives everything for the team, who fights for the team.
“For me to be here I feel fantastic, I feel happy and I am happy to be here.
“I am looking forward to playing against the best players in the Premier League and playing in the best league in the world.
“It has been a dream for me to be competing among the best players in the world, competing in one of the best leagues in the world.
“I will give everything and try my best.”
Nakamba, who was on international duty with Zimbabwe at the Africa Cup of Nations over the summer, has already played in France, Holland and Belgium in his young career.
And Villa manager Smith is convinced he is just the kind of player he needs as he looks to build a squad capable of establishing itself in the Premier League.
Smith, who earlier today signed goalkeeper Tom Heaton from Burnley, said: “Marvelous fits the criteria of the type of player we were looking for.
“He’s very mobile, he’s very good in possession and he will fit in with our style of play.”
Villa fans have defended the club's busy summer in the market, insisting they are not going to follow Fulham in signing a lot of flops and tumbling straight to relegation.
