Manny Pacquiao rules out Amir Khan Saudi Arabia fight after beating Keith Thurman – The Sun
MANNY PACQUIAO has ruled out the prospect of facing Amir Khan in Saudi Arabia after overcoming Keith Thurman.
The 40-year-old claimed the 62nd victory of his 71-fight career to beat the 30-year-old via a split decision at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this morning.
Brit star Khan claimed this week he and Pacquiao’s team had reached an agreement for a Middle East showdown in November – a claim denied by the Filipino legend.
And after he was quizzed on when he will be back in the ring following his successful defence of the WBA welterweight title, he said: “I think my next fight will probably be next year.
“After this fight I am going back to the Philippines to start work again in the Senate.”
Pacquiao still has one fight remaining on his three-match deal with Premier Boxing Champions.
But it looks as if he has his eyes on the victor of Errol Spence Jr and Shawn Porter’s clash in LA in September.
He confirmed: “Yes, I will be going there to watch the fight.”
Pacquiao's comments make Khan’s claim all the more questionable.
The two-time world champion, who bounced back from his April defeat to Terence Crawford by beating Billy Dib in the fourth round of their WBC international welterweight fight in Jeddah last week, had claimed: “The next fight is going to be back in Saudi Arabia again, Riyadh this time.
“It’s going to be November 8.
“Signed off and done, to get Manny Pacquiao is amazing. To have him sign that dotted line is brilliant.
“No matter how he does against Thurman, I still think it’s a big fight.”
