Cheltenham Festival Champion Chase news

Five months out and this race is all about one horse.

Already a dual winner at the Festival, Shishkin has tightened in price without running yet this season.

Unbeaten since December 2019, when he fell at Newbury, this star of the 2m chasing division is, according to trainer Nicky Henderson, 'bigger and stronger' for 2021-22.

Henderson will be hoping that the seven-year-old can fill the void left by two-time Champion Chase winner Altior, who was retired at the end of last season.

Keep your eyes peeled on Energumene, though, the horse owned by billionaire Brighton owner Tony Bloom, labelled the 'cleverest man to ever place a bet'.

He missed a showdown with Shishkin last year but the pair look all set to do battle next March.

Dan Skelton's Nube Negra was more than halved in price after a six-length romp over Politologue in the Shloer Chase, where Put The Kettle On came more than 10 lengths behind the winner.

Skelton said after the race: "That was brilliant, absolutely magic and I'm chuffed to bits."

Shishkin was pulled out of his seasonal bow at the Betfair Tingle Creek by trainer Nicky Henderson and saw his price move slightly from 6-4 to 7-4 as a result.
