Jurgen Klopp confirms Roberto Firmino is fit to start Champions League final vs Tottenham

JURGEN KLOPP confirmed Roberto Firmino is FIT to start the Champions League final tomorrow night.

The Brazilian, 27, had been a doubt as he struggled with a groin injury.

But the Liverpool manager said he is ready to go which will come as a major boost to the Reds.

Klopp was typically jovial when asked if he would be in the starting XI, though.

Speaking in his press conference this afternoon, Klopp said: "As it is, Firmino is fit and ready. He will train later. He should be fine.

"If nothing happens between now and the final, he should be fine."

He then joked: "If Poch tells you his exact line up later, call me, and then I'll tell you mine!"

Klopp is desperate to end a run of six major cup final defeats in a row – including last year's Champions League final – when his side take on Tottenham in Madrid tomorrow.

Two proper football teams in this final. It's a real final and now both have to deal with that. It will be pretty intense and warm. English people aren't used to this heat!

Liverpool go into the game as favourites but with Harry Kane expected to return for Spurs, it promises to be a spectacular 90-minute shootout of attacking football.

Asked what he can learn from his previous final losses, Klopp added: "Nothing really.

"That a bicycle kick from 18 yards can be a goal as well.

"If I was the reason for losing six  finals in a row then everyone should worry. If not, we have a chance.

"Last year three strange goals, apart from that it was a good game."

The Reds finished 26 points above Tottenham in the Premier League this season and are in fine form.

And while Klopp knows it will be a good game, he was quick to dismiss any suggestions that Spurs might have the edge.
