Gold Cup winner Order Of St George retired after glittering career

TRAINER Aidan O'Brien has revealed brilliant stayer Order Of St George has been retired.

O'Brien called time on his racing career with the six-year-old to stand as a National Hunt stallion in 2019.

Order Of St George enjoyed his biggest career success when winning the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2016.

He went on to finish a narrow second in the 2017 renewal and fourth in this year's contest.

Despite staying the marathon trip at Ascot, Order Of St George finished third and fourth in the last two Prix de l'Arc de Triomphes.

He was part of history in the 2016 renewal when part of a famous one-two-three for O'Brien, when Found beat Highland Reel with Order Of St George in third.
