Gerwyn Price slams "absolutely pathetic" jeering crowd during live TV interview
World darts champion Gerwyn Price has once again taken aim at a jeering crowd, openly criticising fans in a TV interview after reaching the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix.
The Welshman was in complete control as he brushed aside Englishman Dave Chisnall on Thursday night to reach the last eight of the competition.
He received a frosty reception throughout from darts fans at the Morningside Arena in Leicester, a continuation of a trend that happens regularly whenever the world number one steps up to the oche.
As he has done in the past, Price wasn't afraid of calling those spectators out after the match.
"There's a lot more in the tank for me, it was a difficult game," he told Sky Sports after beating Chisnall.
"Obviously the crowd were a bit rubbish again, but I won, so no matter what they do, I'll keep winning – give me an opportunity and I'll take it.
"I thought I had bombed the second set after missing 25, but then I think I took out a 104 next leg.
"The crowd are absolutely pathetic, but I won. I don't care [about dominating]. I just want to keep winning. Sometimes the crowd are with me, sometimes the crowd are against me.
"They can boo me, they can do what they want, but I keep winning, so happy days."

Former rugby player Price became the PDC world champion for the first time this year, and also has World Matchplay and Masters titles to show for his stellar performances in 2021.
Most players would be revered by crowds for such strong and consistent performances, but the Welshman has been a controversial figure among fans ever since a spat with popular Scot Gary Anderson during the Grand Slam of Darts final in November 2018.
He has addressed the issue in interviews before, once urging crowds to "boo a bit more" as "it makes me play better".
"A little bit of respect now and again would be good," Price said on the subject earlier this year.

Chisnall echoed that call for respect after his defeat on Thursday, paying tribute to Price's ability at the oche and his personality away from it.
"He's an absolute legend – he's a great lad off the oche as well," the St Helens thrower said.
"I disagree with it. Give him respect – he's world number one. They didn't boo [Michael] van Gerwen when he was number one."
