Gerrard team talk inspired Rangers to second half turnaround, reveals Lafferty

The Gers found themselves 1-0 down at half-time during Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash against St. Johnstone.

The Liverpool legend had a stern message for his players when they recruited to the dressing room during the interval.

Revealing the details of Gerrard's team talk, Lafferty said: "The gaffer said at half-time 'go and show who wants to be here and who wants to fight'.

"In the second half we showed every single member of the squad wanted to play for Rangers.

"I've come here and probably haven't played as much football as I wanted to but I am ready to go and I want to play for this football club. It means everything to me."

Gerrard introduced Lafferty at half-time from the bench and Rangers went on to win the match 2-1 after a double from Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking after the game, the Gers boss said: "The first 45 minutes I wasn't happy, far from it.

"It was a poor performance, we were awful and didn't have one player out there that was doing the shirt any justice so I certainly wasn't happy for 45 minutes.

"I let my feelings be known very clear at half time and made some changes to the eleven.

"And to be fair to the players they played with a bit more belief, bravery, more character and they've gone out and played like Rangers players in the second half and turned it around.

"But we shouldn't have to work that hard at places like this, with all due respect."

Three points has now moved Rangers within one point of rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish top-flight.
