  • An update for the Daniel Ricciardo fans, and it is a bit of bad news. His Renault engine used a bit too much power in qualifying – complicated hybrid-MGU-K stuff – which, ultimately means he was disqualified. BUT…it is not all bad news, get gets to start today's race, only from the back of the grid.

  • This shows you just how tight it is around these Singaporean streets.

  • Hello welcome to our live blog from the Singapore Grand Prix. It is a little under two hours until lights out and what promises to be an exciting race.

If you missed it yesterday, then Charles Leclerc took a shock pole position ahead of Lewis Hamilton.

This was not supposed to be a Ferrari track, given the Italian team's previous struggles here in Singapore.

But Leclerc blew that theory out of the water with his third pole in a row. The 21-year-old's flying lap was a stunner and left Hamilton shellshocked.

The Brit, who has won here for the past two seasons, will start in second place, ahead of Leclerc's Ferrari teammate, Sebastian Vettel.

Leclerc is proving to be a bit of a thorn in Hamilton's side. Remember the two had a heated battle in Monza last out at the Italian GP.

And while he is 102 points behind Hamilton in the title race, with 175 points still on offer, it looks as though the title race is over, Hamilton will be made to fight for it.

That's great news for F1, as both Max Verstappen and Leclerc – two of the brightest stars – have enjoyed a resurgence mid-season.

If they can both take this form into the final run of the season and into next year, then Hamilton's seventh world title (assuming he wins this year) could be a real battle.

Leclerc has shown that he has speed, aggression and that he's got the mental strength to go up against Hamilton.

He effectively told the Brit to bring it on…and he intends to do so. So expect fireworks, flared tempers and the odd crash, for this track has conjured up some special moments in the past.

Light out at 2:10pm UK time.

  • EVEN Lewis Hamilton was in awe of Charles Leclerc's qualifying session!
