Emotional moment Team GB swimmer James Guy breaks down in tears for second day in a row after latest gold at Tokyo 2020
TEAM GB swimming star James Guy could not hold back the tears for the second day running as the Brits won gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
Guy romped to victory alongside team-mates Tom Dean, Duncan Scott and Matthew Richards.
And the emotion was too much for the 25-year-old after the race.
It came just a day after he watched Dean and Scott bag a phenomenal one-two in the 200m freestyle – and was seen sobbing tears of happiness straight after.
And having bagged a gold of his own 24 hours later, Guy admitted: "As a kid, winning an Olympic gold medal was an absolute dream.
"To do it finally after 25 years, it's pretty emotional. With these lads here, we've got the best freestylers in the world.
"And obviously my team-mate [Dean] and Scott getting first and second is amazing.
"It's just the way things have progressed. Racing Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer in Rio 2016.
"And now we're Olympic champions and that's just a dream come true."
Scott touched the wall in the final leg for GB with the Brits finishing miles ahead of the Australians – who won silver – and the Russian Olympic Committee in the bronze spot.
Cameras panned to the jubilant Brits with the gravity of the situation getting to Guy straight away.
He broke down in tears almost immediately before roaring into the stands in delight.
'OVERCOME WITH EMOTION'
Guy narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 200m freestyle himself during trials in April, coming fourth behind Dean and Scott.
He is in Tokyo alongside the pair for the relay, as well as for his other discipline of butterfly.
A training partner of Dean's at the British National Swimming Centre, Guy was incredibly invested in how his pals fared.
And he was overcome with emotion after witnessing their moment of historic success.
The one-two marked the first time Team GB have won gold and silver in the same Olympic event in the pool since 1908.
