Edinson Cavani ‘to have Valencia contract TERMINATED after being left out of pre-season squad’ | The Sun

FORMER Manchester United star Edinson Cavani is set to have his contract terminated at Valencia.

The Uruguayan striker, 36, left Old Trafford to join the LaLiga club 12 months ago after his deal expired with the Red Devils.

But he struggled to hit top form in Spain amid a number of injury issues and finished the campaign with just five top-flight goals.

Despite having another year to go on his contract, Valencia are looking to get him off the wage bill this summer.

Cadena Cope have reported that his representatives wanted £4.7m owed from the remainder of his deal to walk away.

And they are yet to receive a response from club chiefs.

Ruben Baraja’s team are heading to Slovakia to face Spartak Trnava before getting to Switzerland to face St. Gallen.

However, Cavani will not be joining his team-mates according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano as he nears an exit.

Romano tweeted: “Edinson Cavani will not travel for the pre season tour with Valencia as he’s out of the project.

“Cavani is negotiating termination of the contract, waiting for new chapter.”
