A pretty poor opener can go the way of recent Musselburgh scorer CHEBSEY BEAU.

He's only been raised 3lb for beating a progressive type last time out and claimer Danny McMenamin has made quite an impression so far.

He can get the better of Always Resolute, who would have strong claims if returning to the form of his win two starts ago, and Defi Sacre.

VERDICT – 1. Chebsey Beau 2. Always Resolute 3. Defi Sacre

Race 2 – 1.30 Napoleons Casino & Restaurant Owlerton Sheffield Lightning Novices' Chase (Grade 2)

This is tremendously disappointing considering it's an established Arkle trial and DYNAMITE DOLLARS should have no problem landing the odds.

He's miles clear on ratings and it will be a massive shock should he fail to deliver.

Ballyward is the obvious one for second spot, with Ravenhill Road in third.

VERDICT – 1. Chebsey Beau 2. Always Resolute 3. Defi Sacre

Race 3 – 2.05 Albert Bartlett Don Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2)

TRUCKERS LODGE can get the better of Commodore Barry in what is effectively a match.

Paul Nicholls' contender has improved massively in his last few starts and is the highest rated of the pair.

Provided he finishes his race off strongly he can see off the likely favourite.

Bailarico should pick up third.

VERDICT – 1. Truckers Lodge 2. Commodore Barry 3. Bailarico

Race 4 – 2.40 olbg.com Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle (Grade 2)

It's wonderful to see fabulous mare LADY BUTTONS back for more and she should take this prize on the way better things.

She travels so well in her races and should see these off even under a penalty.

Irish Roe is well-in at the weights, though, and should not be discounted, while Indefatigable should also run well.

VERDICT – 1. Lady Buttons 2. Irish Roe 3. Indefatigable

Race 5 – 3.15 Sky Bet Handicap Chase (Listed Race)

As ever, a very competitive renewal. WILLIE BOY was an impressive winner in first-time cheekpieces at Wetherby last time and could be the answer.

He's up in the weights but this longer trip may bring about further improvement.

Go Conquer ran very well at this track last time and can do so again, while O O Seven could have more to come after his wind op.

VERDICT – 1. Willie Boy 2. Go Conquer 3. O O Seven

Race 6 – 3.50 Sky Bet Extra Place Races Handicap Chase

Only five runners but a trappy little contest and this is one for COUGAR'S GOLD.

Three miles is expected to eke out more from this eight-year-old who has been in very good form of late.

Mahlermade is as consistent as they come and can finish second again, while Lough Salt should also produce a nice performance.

VERDICT – 1. Cougar's Gold 2. Mahlermade 3. Lough Salt

Race 7 – 4.25 British European Breeders Fund (EBF) Mares' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race

A tricky finale and perhaps HOTTER THAN HELL can confirm the promise of her debut at Newbury.

She didn't run as well on her second outing but that was in Listed company and she should find this easier.

Nonesuch can pick up second with Bravantina in third.

VERDICT – 1. Hotter Than Hell 2. Nonesuch 3. Bravantina
