De Gea Man Utd stay all-but confirmed as club loan out Dean Henderson to Sheff Utd on loan after signing new contract – The Sun

MAN UNITED have all-but confirmed David De Gea is staying — by sending goalkeeper Dean Henderson on loan to Sheffield United.

The Red Devils announced that Henderson, 22, would return to Bramall Lane for the upcoming campaign after signing a contract extension at Old Trafford.

Spaniard De Gea is on the verge of signing a new six-year deal at United worth £375,000 a week to end doubts about his future.

And he is believed to be keen on taking on the captain's armband to emphasise his commitment.

That appears to have been confirmed after academy product Henderson, seen as a long-term successor to De Gea, was loaned to the Blades for the season.

Henderson, who has been with United since the age of 14, has signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2022.

HE'S A KEEPER

He told United's official website: "I am looking forward to being back at Bramall Lane, the opportunity to be reunited with the coaches and play in front of the amazing fans again is one that I am relishing.

"I cannot wait to enjoy a full season of Premier League football which I know will be hugely beneficial for my career."

Henderson helped Chris Wilder's side get promoted to the Premier League last season.

And United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer  praised the England Under-21's potential of becoming a No1 at Old Trafford.

He said: "Dean had a fantastic season at Sheffield United and has a big future ahead of him so I am delighted that he has signed this contract.

"He is another top-level talent that has come through the Academy to continue the proud tradition of producing players capable of playing in the first team.

"We have great faith in Dean’s ability; he has huge potential and his spirit and passion will stand him in good stead this year."
