Dave Allen rushed to hospital after David Price battered him in all-British clash – The Sun

DAVE ALLEN was taken to hospital after a brutal ten round beating by British rival David Price.

The pair clashed at The O2 Arena acting as chief support for Dillian Whyte's WBC interim world title showdown against Oscar Rivas.

Allen, 27, was taken to the Royal London Hospital as a precaution, after he stood up and collapsed down with his legs giving way.

Trainer Darren Barker told Sky Sports that the fighter was waiting for a scan but believed to be OK.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "We believe Dave suffered a broken orbital bone and some damage to his tongue.

"He has had a brain scan but we don't believe there to be a problem."

After the loss and trip to A&E, Allen hinted at retirement on Twitter, saying: "Dont want anyone to worry about me, just a hard man gone old and soft the last 18 months, very happy and proud of David price, I will be okay but the last 12 months or so my health has been deteriorating and I’m glad I hung on took the chance and made money and now probably done."Dave Allen taken to hospital after battering from David Price in all-British showdown

From round one Price peppered his man with a long jab and right uppercut as Allen plodded forward.

The Scouse giant, 36, was in complete control throughout as he let his hands go against a bemused "White Rhino".

A brave and rugged Allen never looked to find a way out, as he marched forwards with his hands down but took far too much damage.

Former middleweight world champion Darren Barker saw enough after round 10 and pulled his friend and fighter out.

The Doncaster man was immediately given oxygen in the ring as Price muted his celebrations, despite securing a crucial result.

Fans commended Allen for his brave effort, despite being proven to be a level below his opponent.

One said: "Dave Allen took a lot tonight from a very heavy handed jab and I hope all is ok after hearing he's been taken straight to hospital."

Another added: "Price could've ended that anytime after round 7, Chose to use his jab and size. Boxed brilliantly. Allen too brave for his own good. Hope he's okay."

While a concerned viewer tweeted: "Hope Dave Allen is okay, took a real beating that fight."
