Daniel Dubois wants to fight heavyweight kings Fury, Joshua and Wilder… not help train them – The Sun

DANIEL DUBOIS has put away his sparring suitcase now he feels ready to ransack the heavyweight division.
Dynamite, 22, earned his stripes doing practice rounds with Tyson Fury in Bolton in 2017 and headed to Russia last year to work with the feared Alexander Povetkin.
The sessions clearly paid off as the Londoner landed the British title in July with a ferocious win over Nathan Gorman.
And trainer Martin Bowers hired a handful of dangerous New York prospects to reverse roles before his last win in September against Ebenezer Tetteh.
Dubois said: “I think paying for sparring to come in, instead of taking offers from others, improved me in different ways.
“It felt good to know these guys had been hired in specifically for me.
“They didn’t have anything I haven’t seen before in a boxing ring but to be the guy they have been brought in to target was an interesting feeling. I liked feeling hunted.
“I would do it again but they have to be the right sparring partners and up to the job.
'OBSCENE' MONEY
“I have gone to people like Fury and Povetkin before and enjoyed the experience.
“But they have their own career paths and I hope to meet some of the established guys now, so maybe they don’t want to be working with me any more.”
Dubois expects to squeeze one more fight into 2019, at the end of December — the fifth tear-up of a break-out year.
After slaughtering Tetteh inside a round to add the Commonwealth title to his CV, DDD put the domestic scene on warning.
But his attempts to tempt 6ft 8in veteran David Price and social media sensation Dave Allen into action have failed.
Liverpool giant Price was pulled out against Derek Chisora last Saturday after shipping a dangerous fourth-round punch.
Allen repeatedly talked up his desire to face Dubois but turned down a string of offers — and admitted demanding an “obscene” amount to price himself out.
Dubois said: “I think Price knows he is not a young contender any more, so if he can be pulled out instead of knocked spark out, then getting the towel thrown in when he is crumbling is no bad thing.
“Allen is all talk — he talked himself into the fight and has already talked himself out of it.
“I am not bothered about what he has to say. I will just focus on what I have to do. If we meet, then I will be more than ready.”
Once Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr settle their rematch on December 7, the WBO and IBF are expected to enforce mandatory defences that look set to split up the belts.
And Dubois — who is a Top 15 fighter with the WBA, IBF and WBC and is expected to rocket up the WBO rankings shortly — believes he will be ready to go for a world title in 2020.
He added: “If the belts are broken up and divided, which it looks like will happen, that will be great for me.
“I just need to stay sharp and ready and be prepared to pounce whenever the opportunity arises.”
