Cristiano Ronaldo 'not happy' and nearly joined PSG before lockdown as he 'dreams of playing with Neymar and Mbappe'

CRISTIANO RONALDO was "unhappy" and came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain before the coronavirus lockdown hit, according to incredible reports in France.

The Portugal captain, 35, made the switch from Real Madrid to Juventus just two years ago.

But according to France Football, he was weighing up his options and had his heart set on a move to PSG because he dreamed of playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Paris also holds special memories for Ronaldo because it is the city where he won the European Championships with Portugal in 2016.

Ronaldo's frustrations with the Old Lady allegedly reached its peak in October 2019 following a Champions League tie against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Despite Juve winning the match 2-1, Ronaldo did not score or assist – and missed a sitter – while the team's performance was below par.

The article adds that he was ready to picture himself away from Allianz Stadium and playing his football elsewhere, realising Turin did not have the same attraction as Madrid or the Premier League.

Instead he was considering PSG as a possible destination – he has a close bond with Neymar and reportedly "adores" Mbappe.

So the chance to form one of the deadliest attacks in world football at a club with the financial backing of Qatar Sports Investments unsurprisingly appealed.

One source even claimed the move was "very probable" before the pandemic put the brakes on a potential move.

However, the impact of coronavirus across the sporting globe means any potential mega-money move to Paris looks to be off the cards again.

Ronaldo is now resigned to staying at Juventus but wouldn't rule out a move this summer should the opportunity present itself.

The France Football report stated of his current mood: "He is not unhappy, but he is not happy either."

Since joining Juventus, Ronaldo has won Serie A in both seasons.

On an individual basis, he has racked up an impressive 63 goals in just 88 appearances but did miss out on the Golden Boot this term to Ciro Immobile.
