Courtois anxiety rumours rubbished by Real Madrid as club reveal ex-Chelsea star was subbed at half-time due to gastroenteritis – The Sun

REAL MADRID have revealed Thibaut Courtois was subbed at half-time in midweek sufferinh from gastroenteritis – NOT anxiety.
Former Chelsea star Courtois was hauled off at the break with Real trailing 2-0 to FC Brugge in their Champions League clash at the Bernabeu.
That led to questions over whether his future at the club was under threat after another dismal display between the posts.
And there were even wild claims in the Spanish media that the 27-year-old Belgian had been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder by specialists.
Those spurious claims forced Real to come out with a statement making clear there was nothing more troubling than a severe upset stomach for the Belgian to deal with.
Real said: "We can make it clear that our player at no time has been diagnosed with an alleged anxiety disorder and therefore that information is absolutely false.
"Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed and treated for acute gastroenteritis with dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which made it impossible for him to finish last Tuesday's game against Brugge.
"The player currently responds in a favourable manner to the treatment."
Real eventually hauled their way back from two goals behind to secure a 2-2 draw against the Belgian club on Tuesday.
But that has still not dampened the criticism being aimed at the players and manager for a disappointing start to the new season.
Courtois has found it hard to win over the Bernabeu supporters since his high-profile move from Chelsea last year.
