Conor McGregor to make long-awaited UFC return in 2019 after post-fight Khabib Nurmagomedov brawl ban

McGregor, 30, is currently suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after he and Khabib Nurmagomedov, 30, were involved in a post-fight brawl at UFC 229.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in round four in October but after the unsavoury scenes post-fight the duo are currently forced to wait on the sidelines.

A hearing was set for December but it has now been reverted to January – leaving McGregor heavily focussed on his Proper 12 whiskey product – opposed to training in the gym.

Attar told MMA Betz: “We’re still going through the Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing, that was postponed until January but we are confident in those results.

“Everything is normal. Just keep it moving. Conor didn’t enjoy the loss and he’s looking to avenge that loss, but it is what it is. That’s kind of the attitude he has.

“He has moved on with his life and he’s launched his Proper 12 whiskey, so he’s been busy with that, and he has a growing family.

“They are expecting another child soon, and he’s really just focusing on getting back in the gym consistently so when he does make that step back into the Octagon, that he is ready to go and he’s at his best.”

Nurmagomedov became the second man to defeat McGregor in the UFC, following Nate Diaz’s shock UFC 196 victory in 2016.

McGregor would avenge that defeat five months later as he outpointed Diaz in a memorable showdown at UFC 202.

However, The Notorious may have to wait for his second crack at Nurmagomedov as UFC president Dana White insists he wants No1 ranked lightweight contender Tony Ferguson to fight for the title next.

In the meanwhile McGreogr has been linked with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and former rival Dustin Poirier as potential comeback opponents.
