Chelsea have no plans to sell Andreas Christensen, says Blues boss Sarri

The Denmark international has seldom been called on this season and has made just one Premier League outing.

An ever-present in the Europa League and Carabao Cup, the 22-year-old has fallen behind Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz in the pecking order since Sarri's arrival.

His limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge coupled with an injury crisis at Barcelona saw him linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

A deal reportedly fell through after Barca submitted a proposal to loan the centre-back next month before acquiring him on a permanent deal in the summer.

Ernesto Valverde's side have since signed Jeison Murillo on loan from Valencia until the end of the campaign with a view to a permanent deal, having lost Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen to injury

And according to Sarri that ends any possibility of Christensen leaving West London.

The Italian said: "I think Barcelona yesterday signed a new centre-back.

"Christensen is out of the market. He’s an important player for us."

A move away from Chelsea would be unlikely anyway for the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach loanee, who is nursing a hamstring problem.

Christensen played 81 minutes of the Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth in mid-week before being replaced by Luiz and is a doubt to make the squad for the visit of Leicester on Saturday.

Sarri added: "We have a little problem with Christensen.

"A little injury to his hamstring.

"The doctor told me it’s not very serious but he needs to rest."
