Arsenal fans made to eat words after mocking Spurs for Champions League advert as it turns out to be true
Spurs have been brutally trolled all season after suffering a series of delays to the opening of the £1billion, 62,000-seater ground.
An advert taunting their London rivals went viral earlier this season and Tottenham were even warned by an advertising watchdog to avoid making claims they cannot fulfil.
But thanks to Mauricio Pochettino's side's incredible 4-0 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, they have stayed true to their word.
Tottenham today announced the stadium will be open next month and will be broke in on either April 3 against Crystal Palace, or four days later against Brighton, depending on FA Cup results.
And it means the stadium will DEFINITELY host a Champions League quarter-final on April 9/10, or the following week, depending on the draw.
Spurs are one of four teams to have qualified for the last-eight, as well as Manchester United, Ajax and Porto.
Arsenal and Chelsea, meanwhile, are still battling it out in the Europa League.
The Gunners face an embarrassing exit from Europe's second-tier competition after last night's 3-1 loss at Rennes.
But the Blues are firmly in the driving seat ahead of their second-leg clash against Dynamo Kiev after romping to a 3-0 win on Thursday.
Spurs fans had come to dread any updates the club announced on social media – accompanied by the 'photo of doom' – which usually explained a further delay to the stadium.
But today they could finally celebrate – and many took the chance to reaffirm their infamous Champions League advert.
One user wrote: "Tottenham Champions league poster advert Man of the Match."
Another posted a picture of the advert, writing: "Some dates for the diary if you’re a Tottenham fan! This news confirms that Spurs’ new stadium will indeed be the only place to see Champions League football in London this season as the QF will definitely be there #THFC."
While one replied to the club's stadium announcement with the picture, writing: "??????. YOU KNOW IT ✅?"
