Andy Murray withdraws from men's singles event at Tokyo Olympics with injury
Andy Murray has withdrawn from the men’s singles event Tokyo Olympics with a thigh injury.
The two-time defending champion was due to face Felix Auger-Aliassime on day two of singles action.
But the Scot has withdrawn from the event on medical advice.
Murray began his doubles campaign alongside Joe Salisbury on Saturday and will continue in that event.
‘I am really disappointed at having to withdraw but the medical staff have advised me against playing in both events, so I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the singles and focus on playing doubles with Joe [Salisbury],’ Murray said.
Murray is replaced in the singles event by Australia’s Max Purcell.
