    Shkodran Mustafi has revealed he would retire if he couldn't get back in the Arsenal first team.

    He said: “At the end of the day we know how it is in football.

    “You always get your chances, you always get the possibilities to go again and go again and when you start thinking like you said, I think it’s when you retire from football.

    “It’s not the way a professional should think.

    “For me it’s always been the same, I always try to put my personal stuff behind me and be there for the team.

    “Always when the team needed me I wanted to be there, not only in the games but as well in training.”

  • GIFT OF THE GAB

    Arsenal reportedly had bids rejected for Lille defender Gabriel in January – but are set to reignite their interest in him this summer.

    Mikel Arteta was looking to bolster his defensive options last month as Calum Chambers has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

    According to Le10 Sport, the Gunners put forward “firm offers” over several days for the Brazil Under-20 star.

    But Lille swiftly rejected Arsenal's approach as they did not believe the offers met their valuation of Gabriel.

    It is also reported that Carlo Ancelotti's Everton side also saw bids rejected for the 22-year-old defender.

    Arsene Wenger and Andrey Arshavin were photographed at a conference in Paris.
