A mischievous toddler left her mother speechless after smearing handfuls of sticky peanut butter all over herself and around her home – after being left alone for less than five minutes.
Alecia Meldrum, 25, from Bunbury, Western Australia, had just finished preparing her child’s favourite breakfast of peanut butter on toast when she decided to quickly pop outside to hang her clothes on the washing line.
However the mother-of-one, who had left the jar of peanut butter on the kitchen table, had no idea that her two-year-old daughter Aaliyah had her eyes on the sticky spread.
After being gone for less than five minutes, Alecia was excitedly greeted in the laundry room by her laughing toddler who was completely drenched from head-to-toe in peanut butter.

The shocked mum was then led by Aaliyah into the living room where the toddler had smeared handfuks of peanut butter all over the living room – including on the couch, curtains, windows and carpet.
Stay-at-home mum Alecia said: ‘We’d just gotten up that morning and she wanted peanut butter on toast for breakfast as usual. It is her favourite.
‘As she was finishing up, I’d left the jar on the table and decided to quickly go out he back to put some washing on the line.
‘Less than five minutes later I heard her calling me, and she came running in covered in peanut butter.
‘I couldn’t believe it and just burst out laughing. And it just got worse when she led me into the living room and there was peanut butter everywhere.
‘I was shocked. But I couldn’t help but laugh, I was gone for such a short time and she had created such mayhem.
When the shocked mum returned she saw that Aaliyah (left after incident and right before incident) had also smeared the peanut spread in the living room

‘Not only was it all over her, but she’d smeared it all over the couch, windows, curtains and carpet. The whole living room was completely covered in it.
‘She was very proud of herself and still laughs when I show her the photos of her covered in peanut butter.
Little Aaliyah was marched straight into the shower where her mother vigorously washed all the sticky peanut butter from her skin and hair, but said it took a few shampoos to get the paste out completely.
Armed with a bucket of hot water, soap and carpet cleaner, Alecia said she managed to clean up the mess in a couple of hours – but added the nutty aroma of peanut butter took at least a week to dissipate.
Following the comical mishap, Alecia said she would no longer be leaving her daughter’s favourite breakfast spread on the table unsupervised – but added she was glad it was not crunchy peanut butter.

She added: ‘I put her in the shower and gave her a good wash, but it took a few shampoos to get it all out.
‘She smelt like peanut butter for the next day or so, it took quite a few showers for the smell to go. But her hair was very shiny afterwards.
‘I used a carpet cleaner which helped get most of it out. I had to put the couch cushions outside in the sun, and it took at least a week for the smell to disappear.
‘At least it was the smooth kind, I’d hate to think if it was crunchy. I’d be finding those little bits everywhere.
‘It certainly makes for a funny story, and the pictures are hilarious. I’ll never forget it.
‘I put the peanut butter straight back in the cupboard these days. I’ve learnt my lesson.’
