Storm Erik winds sweep pram off pavement flinging toddler into oncoming traffic

Heart-stopping footage shows the moment a toddler in a pram was blown into the path of oncoming traffic in Dublin.

As Storm Erik continues to wreak havoc across the nation, a yellow weather warning remains in place for the majority of England and Wales.

The adverse weather is causing major travel disruption, including cancelled flights as pilots struggle to land planes in the ferocious winds.

But even families on foot are at risk as gale-force winds and heavy rainfall batters Britain.

And hair-raising footage taken in Dublin yesterday shows just how dangerous high winds can be.

In the video, a man can be seen pushing a pram along the pavement, when something is blown into the road.

He briefly leaves the pram as he attempts to retrieve the runaway item, Mail Online reports.

In a heart-stopping moment, a huge gust of wind then blows the pram into the road and tips it over – forcing a driver to slam on their breaks to avoid a crash.

The child can be seen desperately trying to get out of the pram as the panicked parents rush over to help.

Fortunately, the child appears to escape unharmed.

A weather warning for wind has been put in place until 3pm today by the Met Office and heavy rain is expected in Scotland this afternoon, with a risk of flooding in some parts.

Pilots have been forced to abandon numerous landings at Dublin Airport, with dramatic footage showing planes rocking to the side as they approach the runway.

Yesterday, an Aer Lingus flight travelling from London to Dublin Airport was force to make an unplanned diversion to Manchester due to the disruptive weather.

The storm’s strongest recorded gust on Friday was 84mph at Capel Curig, in Wales, the Met Office said.

A man, 50, was killed at 5.30am on Friday after a tree came down on two cars travelling on the A384 in Devon.

And footage showed a British Airways plane forced to abandon its initial landing at Heathrow after strong winds put the aircraft off -balance seconds before it was about to touch down.
