Rich Kids Go Skint's Jodie Weston reveals trolls brand her 'spoiled'

Model, 26, whose parents fund her lavish lifestyle insists she’s not ‘spoiled’ – and says she’s had ‘jealousy, judgement and betrayal from a young age’ because she went to private school
- Jodie Weston, 26, from London, appeared on Rich Kids Go Skint in May 2018
- Model told how she has been heavily trolled online since the episode aired
- Claims was told she deserved to be ‘sexually abused’ after assault in February
A pampered star of Rich Kids Go Skint has revealed she was trolled so badly after the episode aired that she was told it was her ‘own’ fault she was sexually abused.
Jodie Weston, 26, from London, caused a stir online after saying the single mother on benefits she moved in with for the show had ‘bad decisions’ to blame for her circumstances.
Now, Jodie, who helps to run the family salon Muse of London, has spoken out about the vile comments she’s received following the 5STAR episode, which aired in May last year – and insists she’s far from ‘spoiled.’
‘The worst comment I received was after I got sexually assaulted in February 2019,’ she explained. ‘Someone DM’d me via a fake account and said that it’s my own fault I got attacked because I always have my body on show, so what did I expect?’
‘This was the most disgusting and vile things I’ve ever received from anyone because it’s one thing insulting someone from a TV show, but when they’ve seen an article about me being sexually assaulted by a random person who was following me down a dark alley, then that is another level of disgraceful.’

Jodie, now a DJ, explained that just because she lives a privileged lifestyle, doesn’t mean she has no emotions
Following the controversial episode, Jodie (pictured) received a message from a stranger saying they wish she’d get punched in the face
She continued: ‘When I was attacked it was a freezing cold night in February and I had a coat on, trousers and boots so the only skin showing was my hands and neck and face.’
‘I don’t need to justify myself, but it just makes you think the world is such an ugly place sometimes.’
In the controversial episode, Jodie moved out of her lavish London flat, and into the cramped one bedroom flat of struggling single mother Becky Wilson in Barkingside – which she branded her ‘idea of a nightmare.’
And it wasn’t long before Jodie found herself the target of keyboard warriors across the nation.
‘I had girls commenting on my pictures daily telling me how bad my makeup was, that my hair was horrible and that I’m everything that’s wrong with society,’ she explained.
‘They told me my accent is disgusting, I’m the most stuck up person they’ve ever seen and do I hate the real me that much that I have to cover it up with makeup?’
The 26-year-old told how the comments about her personality and lifestyle are more hurtful because that’s something that isn’t easy to change. Pictured, Jodie on a night out
Jodie revealed that some of the most comments messages she receives are those branding her ‘talentless’ and ‘spoilt.’ Pictured on a luxurious holiday in California
She continued: ‘I also had people commenting saying how poor and unfortunate the “skint” girl was on my show and how I’m a bully and don’t know what the real world is like. I even had someone telling me they wish I’d get punched in the face.’
‘Obviously we all have a few insecurities. Mine don’t stem from my looks so much, so the makeup comments I didn’t take to heart.’
‘At the end of the day if my makeup is bad I can just wipe it off and start again as it isn’t permanent.’
But it was the insults Jodie started to receive, including those who branded her both ‘spoiled’ and ‘talentless’, that really began to impact her.
‘The comments about my personality and lifestyle are more hurtful because my personality and who I am isn’t as easy to change, and it would make me second guess certain decisions I made or the way I am in general,’ she explained.
‘It ends up sending you a bit paranoid, especially when the comments are so cutting.’
‘I would say to them that I’m one of the only, if not the only person from Rich Kids Go Skint who is still in the media over a year after I was on the show.’
‘That speaks for itself and wouldn’t be the case if I were dumb or talentless. I’m also a DJ and have produced several house tracks, as well as running a business, Muse of London with my family.’
‘I’m not just another reality star hanging onto the fact they were on TOWIE or Love Island three years ago with nothing new going on, I feel like I have some substance to back it up.’

And while the most expensive item Jodie owns is a diamond necklace worth around £15, 000 from Dubai, she insists she isn’t ‘spoiled.’
‘I wouldn’t call myself spoiled,’ she explained. ‘I’ve had things throughout my life that people looking in may deem “spoiled” but I feel spoiled is more of a personality trait than anything.’
‘I’m not a b*** or demanding or unappreciative. My upbringing wasn’t all “let’s spoil princess Jodie” and butterflies and cupcakes.’
‘My mum was a single mum for years and my dad has lived in another country since I was two-years-old, which wasn’t always easy to deal with and strained our relationship.’
‘I also haven’t had money around me 24/7, it has come and gone throughout my life, as my parents made good or bad business decisions.
And following her experience with online trolls, Jodie says she can totally see how social media can be linked to dark and suicidal thoughts.
‘If hate and negativity wasn’t something so prolific in my upbringing then I may not have been prepared for how to deal with these type of comments,’ she explained.

‘I don’t think a lot of people would have been able to cope with the amount of hate that was thrown at me during that time period I was trolled relentlessly every day for six months after Rich Kids Go Skint.’
She continued: ‘I became numb after a while and would login to my Instagram already knowing that I was going to have to spend at least the first minutes deleting nasty comments off my pictures.’
As Jodie understand she’s had an unconventional upbringing, she knows other people’s view of her life is not the reality.
‘People think so-called “rich kids” have no problems, but that is very far from the truth,’ she explained.
‘Everyone has problems or can have horrible things happen to them. Going to a private school or going on 5 star holidays doesn’t mean you are exempt from ever going through emotional pain or hardships.’
‘Private school is one of the bitchiest, two-faced environments you could ever experience. I’ve had to deal with jealousy, judgement and betrayal from a very young age.’
