'RHONY': The Man Ramona Singer Was Flirting With Is Republican and Says Feminists Are 'She-Devils'

Ramona Singer is on the prowl on The Real Housewives of New York City. The Bravo star opened up early on in season 12 that she was desperately seeking a man to marry. In a recent episode of the show she was seen flirting with a man that turned out to have a twisted idea of feminism. Leah McSweeney exposed the identity of the person on Instagram who turned out to be a Republican candidate.

What happened on ‘RHONY?’

The RHONY ladies took a girl’s trip to Newport, Rhode Island where McSweeney and Singer have been clashing. On the latest episode of the show, Tinsley Mortimer organized a dinner at a restaurant. The ladies seemed disinterested in getting to eat and more interested in flirting with men at the bar.

Singer spotted a man that she took an interest in when she saw that he wasn’t wearing pants. She broke the ice and started flirting with him. The table was ready for all of them to sit, but Singer was lost in conversation with the shorts-wearing man that she didn’t go where the other girls were.

When McSweeney had been tired of waiting, she went over to the bar to lure the guy away from Singer and the other ladies. The Married to the Mob founder and her sister crossed a couple of words with him but was met with rudeness. He walked up and left the restaurant upsetting Singer.

Who was the ‘shorts’ man?

After the episode aired, McSweeney took to her Instagram Stories to share an article with the identity of the man Singer was flirting with. It turns out that his name is Courtland Sykes and has a political history. Sykes was a Republican Senate candidate in Missouri in 2018. However, his views on the role of women drew strong criticism.

“But Chanel knows that my obedience comes with a small price that she loves to pay anyway: I want to come home to a home-cooked dinner at six every night, one that she fixes,” Sykes wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post that CNN shared back in January 2018. “And one that I expect one day to have my daughters learn to fix after they become traditional homemakers and family wives.”

Sykes is engaged to Chanel Rion, who recently made headlines as a correspondent for conservative network One America News. He was also hopeful that if he ever had daughters they wouldn’t become “feminist she-devils.”

“I don’t want them [to] grow up into career obsessed banshees who [forgo] home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she-devils,” he said.

After getting backlash, Sykes tried to clarify his words.

“I clearly state that modern women can be anything they want,” he told The Washington Post. “No one is in a position to tell women what they can and can’t do.”

Singer has been drawing criticism lately for not understanding the Black Lives Matter movement. She has updated her fans saying she’s educating herself to not make the same mistakes in the future.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
