RHOBH Star Teddi Mellencamp Reveals That She Is Diagnosed With Stage 2 Melanoma
American television personality, actress, and self-professed “accountability coach” Teddi Mellencamp has been through a lot healthwise in the past few months. Unfortunately, it does not seem to get any better for the reality TV star as she recently made another disturbing revelation. In a social media post, Teddi explained that she is battling Stage 2 melanoma. Sadly, Teddi Mellencamp’s melanoma diagnosis is not the first she has experienced. Here are the details of the whole story.
According to E! News, Teddi on Tuesday showed off a pink scar on her back with a bandage right next to it.
“Melanoma awareness update. Despite my anxiety, I listened to the doctors and went in for my 3-month skin check last week since my previous melanoma. They said I had another abnormal spot near my last one so they did a biopsy. I got the call this morning: Stage 2 melanoma. Now, next Wednesday I go to an oncologist to have it cut out and come up with a game plan for the next steps.

“Of course, this is all pending some additional testing and biopsies of other spots nearby that were taken today. Moral of this story: if a doctor says, “come in every 3 months” please go in every 3 months. I so badly wanted to blow this off. “What could happen in 3 months?” I thought. Apparently a lot. I continue to share this journey because I was a 90s teen, putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan it. Never wearing sunscreen or getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old. This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in.” Teddi said in her caption.
Mellencamp also took to her Instagram Stories to share more snaps of the affected areas. In one Story, she posted a side-by-side photo of two different spots that she also got biopsied on Tuesday.
She also posted shots from before her surgery that showed two spots — one looking completely dark brown and the other light pink with a new dot of brown to it.
Hundreds of fans showered her with love and support, as well as told stories from their own experiences with melanoma, per Page Six.
One woman wrote, “Good for you! I had stage 2 melanoma in my 20s and now I’m 15 years cancer free. I see my dermatologist more often than any other doctor!”
A second one shared that she was taking the reality TV star’s post as a sign to visit her own doctor, “I was avoiding a spot. Thank you! You are brave and you’ve got this!”
“I’m glad they found it! You got this girl!” a third one wrote.
According to Teddi, “They said I had another abnormal spot near my last one so they did a biopsy. I got the call this morning: Stage 2 melanoma.”
With the new diagnosis, RHOBH alum Teddi Mellencamp said she has an appointment with the oncologist on October 19. According to the starlet, the doctor will cut the spot out and help her come up with a game on the next steps. Meanwhile, Teddi Mellencamp’s melanoma diagnosis has taught her some lessons, which she shared in the post.
Teddi noted that obeying the doctor’s advice and going for checkups when instructed were vital. She also advised her fans to wear sunscreen and have moles on their skin checked out, which she never did until she turned 40
Sadly, Teddi has battled skin disease in the past. In March 2022, she went under the knife to remove a mole from her back after the doctor hinted at it being melanoma. Following the surgery, the RHOBH alum thought it wise to spread awareness.
So, she took to Instagram with pictures of the surgical process. Teddi also explained that actress Kyle Richards was the one who spotted the change in color on her back. Thankfully, everything was sorted out quickly, and Teddi came out strong. Relatively, fans are hopeful that this time will not be any different.
